Choose a Wreath
I love to utilize a wreath as the centerpiece of our front door. It allows me to select items and pieces that complement one another by pointing back to the chosen wreath. Unlike my fall wreaths with more muted colors and tones, I like to go for a wreath full of greenery in the summer.
Be Creative with Your Layering
If you’ve seen my fall and holiday door styling, you’ll be familiar with my love for layering. You can layer your rugs (ex. your welcome mat on top of a small rug), layer your plants with various heights and textures, and add in these lanterns. I used all faux plants this year because we are in a drought. You’ll see more of them around my front porch swing.
Our black door color is Sherwin Williams Tricorn Black. We painted our entire exterior Benjamin Moore Simply White too. What can I say? It’s a versatile color. Our timbers and tongue and groove are painted a semi-solid stain to match Sherwin Williams Morris Room Grey – a warm, hearty color. It’s a great color to use on cabinets as well.
Our hanging swing bed is the perfect spot to sip on your morning cup of coffee, read a book, and enjoy all the sights and sounds of summer. I chose to incorporate a rug and plants similar to my front door. I also chose pillows that use the same color scheme as my front door (as well as the interior of my house. More on that, HERE). Various sizes, shapes, and textures make it a welcoming place for guests.
