Unlike your typical full bathroom, you won’t have to fret over the potentially damaging effects of steam and humidity, so decor options are endless. Powder rooms are also small in overall size, which makes redesign possible and without breaking the bank! So, go big or go home!!

Wallpaper, lighting, fixtures, and decor should all interconnect creating a cohesive look, so let your imagination go wild because it’s the unexpected that makes a powder room great!

Wallpaper

I have a love for wallpaper that goes beyond words! It offers the perfect opportunity to be bold in both color and pattern design. Due to its smaller space, the powder room allows you to be a little edgier and dare I say slightly LOUD with your wallpaper choice!

For my powder room, I went with this stroke design. The small detailed pattern showcases strokes and dots in a horizontal pattern, which creates stunning visual appeal. Even better it’s a non-pasted design, so all you have to do is paste adhesive on your wall and press the paper on top. Pro-tip: measure your walls first to determine exactly how much you need before buying!!

The right wallpaper design makes all the difference, adding just the right amount of personality to any powder room space. So, whether it’s one wall or four, don’t forget to incorporate wallpaper for an eye-catching statement!

Towel Bars, Rings & Hooks

When it comes to design, towel bars tend to take a backseat! They’re not typically at the forefront of your mind when styling a space. The good news is high-end towel bars are now making their way into bathrooms! With a standout feature design, they’re the perfect way to enhance your powder room style!

Generally speaking, the towel bar height should be 48″ from the floor to the center of the bar, but I suggest aiming for somewhere between 44-48″. When determining the best height, take into consideration the overall layout of your space. If your bar or ring is over a vanity, hang it so the bottom of your towel is at least a few inches above the vanity (typically 18-22″ above, measuring from the bottom of the ring or bar).

Another consideration when determining optimal towel bar placement is the location of light switches and outlets and also adjusting bar height for small kiddos.

Speaking of kiddos…why can’t they keep the towel on the rack!?! Well, you’re in luck because I have you covered!! I love THIS simple solution and it’s pretty too! You do need a longer towel for this to work properly, so I’m linking my favorite HERE!

Mirrors

One of my favorite pieces in this space, besides the wall art, is this gorgeous slope oval mirror. It offers a modern look with its clean lines while adding the perfect touch of polished detailing. I absolutely love the sleek profile along with its timeless elegant style. An added bonus is the pivot feature, which makes for easy adjusting!

When choosing a mirror for this space it’s important to look for something that complements your overall theme and style, helping to pull the final look together! Secondary design elements like mirrors are where the magic can really happen, as it offers the opportunity to do something a little more interesting!

Wall Art

You want your aesthetic on display in every corner of the home so that each room appears to flow effortlessly into the next. Blank bathroom walls can look sterile, which is why wall art is the perfect addition to your powder room space!

If you’ve followed me any length of time you know just how much I adore my fur baby family! What better way to pay homage to our four-legged friends than displaying a thoughtfully hand-crafted self-portrait for all to see!! Our Yorkie is such a little old man and we love him so much!

I know…you’re probably wondering exactly how we pulled this magical piece of artwork off…thank you Etsy!! Believe it or not Etsy offers custom pet portraits in various sizes at incredibly affordable prices! The process is super simple! Just choose a costume, add any special requests, and send 2-3 photos of your pet after purchase. That’s it!! It honestly was the perfect finishing piece to complete our powder room design! Definitely saved the best for last…in my opinion!
